A transgene-induced insertion results in preaxial polydactyly in the hindlimbs of heterozygotes and in both hind- and forelimbs of homozygotes. A second inverted claw may be noted on heterozygous extra digits while homozygous zeugopods show hemimelia, often resulting in loss of tibia-fibula fusion.
