Mice homozygous for a hypomorphic allele show perinatal death, reduced birth size and liver glycogen levels, and hypoglycemia. Surviving adults show elevated ER stress in MEFs, lung, kidney, salivary gland and in pancreas, associated with beta cell loss, hypoinsulinemia, and glucose intolerance.
