Mice homozygous for a null allele display increased heart damage following pressure overload. Mice with a cardiomyocyte specific deletion show decreased damage following pressure overload. Mice homozygous for a different knock-out allele exhibit decreased suseptibility to bleomycin-induced fibrosis. Another homozygous knockout suppresses inflammatory reactions and reduces susceptibility to LPS-induced acute kidney disease.
