Homozygotes for a null allele are resistant to cigarette-induced emphysema. Homozygotes for a different null allele show impaired insulin signaling in WAT and enhanced lipolysis leading to exacerbated WAT inflammation, high FFA levels, glucose intolerance and insulin resistance under high-fat diet.
