Mice heterozygous for an ENU-induced mutation of this gene exhibit polydactyly of the hindlimbs. Homozygotes also exhibit forelimb polydactyly. Reduced or absent tibiae cause a rotational hindlimb defect. Craniofacial anomalies show incomplete penetrance.
