Mice homozygous for ENU-induced mutations exhibit cleft palate, facial clefting, and perinatal lethality. Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele show neonatal lethality, thick epidermis, decreased hair follicle number, absent keratohyalin granules, and increased epidermal Snail protein levels.
