Mice homozygous for a spontaneous C-to-T transition, found in C57BL/6J and C57BL/6JEiJ but not other inbred strains, display abnormal translational elongation. Homozygous KO in the C57BL/6NJ strain leads to increased resistance to chemically induced seizures similar to the B6J strain, which naturally carries a defective allele that also protects against electrically induced seizures.
