Mutations in this gene typically lead to progressive cataract formation. Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit reduced female fertility, impaired ovarian folliculogenesis, abnormal superovulation, altered proliferation and apoptosis of granulosa cells, and dysregulated sex hormone production.
