This locus controls an isoelectric focusing variant in liver, stomach and small intestine. A band at pH 8.2 (allele a) is seen in C57BL/10, BALB/c, CBA/J and C3H; a diffuse band at pH 7.8-7.9 (b allele) in A/J, DD/He, NZW and M. spretus; and two bands at8.1 and 8.3 (c allele) in AKR, SJL and FVB/N.
