This locus controls expression of the b allele of Es5 in plasma. The o allele in M. m. molossinus prevents expression of ES5B; the a allele in C57BL/10, SK/Cam and NMRI/Fr allows expression of ES5B. The a allele is dominant. The o allele has no effect onES5A or enzymes encoded by Es2, Es7 or Es11
