Mice homozygous for a chemically-induced allele are sterile and growth retarded, show a reduced cerebellar cortex, hyperspiny Purkinje cells, an atrophic dendritic tree and signs of axonal degeneration, and develop a fatal disease characterized by abnormal motor behavior and cerebellar symptoms.
