NZB and NZW do not develop lupus nephritis, but F1 progeny and backcrosses to parental strains do. Combined dominant alleles at Lpn1, Lpn2 and Lpn3 determine disease susceptibility. NZB alleles are dominant for Lpn1 and recessives for Lpn2 and Lpn3. Lpn1may be identical or related to Ads1 and Agp1.
