In spleen lymophocyte cultures, determinant positive cells stimulate proliferation and effector function of T cells that are determinant negative. Presence of the determinant (allele a) is found in DBA/2, AKR and C3H/Tif; absence (b allele) in C57BL/6, C57BL/10, BALB/c, DBA/1, and C3H/DiSn.
