Ouabain, a glycoside with cardiac effects similar to digitalis, interacts with APTase and affects cation and amino acid transport. Cell lines carrying mouse Oua1 gene express a mutant Atp1a1 with one amino acid substitution. Oua1 shows sequence homology to upstream regulatory regions of gene Atp1a1.
